Freeland Community School District

This week, the Freeland Community School District is highlighting our Technology Director, Mr. Jeff Hohman.  Jeff has worked in the Freeland Community School District for two years, while having served in education for a total of 10 years.  Jeff is the go-to-person for all our district’s technology needs.  There is never a question too great that he is not able to immediately solve or help find a solution to.  Whether support is needed with the phones, computers, instructional technology, printers, security cameras, etc., the expediency and efficiency with which Jeff and his team are able to meet the diverse needs of our staff and students is impressive to say the least.  

When asked what he finds most rewarding about his position, Jeff shared, “I am fortunate enough to witness firsthand how the integration of new technology positively impacts students’ creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.  We have an amazing team of educators at FCSD that are willing to adopt and try new technologies that help engage their students.  Technology is constantly evolving, and having the ability to bring solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of our learning environment is a great opportunity.  The technology we provide today directly contributes to the success of students, preparing them for the opportunities and challenges they will face in the digital age.”  In terms of a favorite memory over the last two years, he said, “The students create the best memories.  From being interrogated by a classroom of kindergarteners, each asking the same question, "Who are you?" or "Who's dad are you!?" to being in the middle/high school where students are trying to negotiate for a problem to be fixed.  It is never a dull moment when you are working in K-12.”  As much fun as work is, Jeff enjoys his time away as well.  “I enjoy getting out to the golf course, watching basketball and football, camping, and most of all creating memories with family and friends.”
