Governor Whitmer's announcement yesterday had two (2) significant impacts on Freeland Schools:
1. High School students are able to return to "in-person" learning. Therefore, along will all K-8 students who attend school everyday, FHS students will return to school, and their alternating day schedule, on Monday, January 4, 2021.
2. Freeland Football will resume practicing on Monday, December 21, in preparation for their Regional Final contest on Saturday, Jan. 2nd. They are being allowed to do so as part of an MDHHS pilot rapid testing program.

As we close out 2020, a year that has been challenging in many ways, we are happy to end it with a positive message that highlights the spirit of Freeland students and residents. Recently, FES Counselor Pete Duley challenged our 3rd-8th grade students to help brighten the holiday season for the residents in our local assisted living homes. They certainly met the challenge by sending over 250 pictures and cards with cheerful messages to the residents! The residents were very grateful to receive the cards and pictures, especially in this time of limited or no visitors. The students of Freeland also collected hundreds of food items to give to our local food pantries.
Additionally, we had many families and businesses help support struggling families by giving over 300 gifts to them. These families and businesses are not looking for recognition, we want them to know that the families receiving the gifts were very appreciative and thankful for their generosity.
It is evident that our students and families had the last say in 2020, and what a promising message it was to lead us into 2021!
