
The FHS LINKS, along with our SLS group, held our first ever Glow Dance two weeks ago. The students who attended were amazing, making sure everyone was included and having fun. There were games, face painting, tattoo stickers, snacks and dancing. Thank you to Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Klida for all of your hard work behind the scenes, as this was a very special night for all who attended!

Students at FHS participated in spirit days, received an awareness bracelet from the LINKS program, participated in a GLOW dance, and had an opportunity to participate in a human ribbon last week as a final culmination of Autism Awareness Month. We stand together in understanding and awareness of our peers and students at FHS with autism.

Students in Mrs. Hoffmann's Spanish 1 class Spanish 1 just finished learning about a famous tradition in Tarragona, Spain called Castells. Castells are human towers that are part of a festival competition. Students made their own version of castells using plastic cups to see how elaborate their towers could be.







Congratulations to our Symphony Band who competed at States today. Our band came back to school with a rating of a "ONE" which is superior in state music competition. We are so proud of their hard work, and appreciate their dedication to our music program. A special shout out to Mr. Shaw, for his strong leadership with these great students. Proud to be a Falcon!

Congratulations to senior, Tony Svetic, who competed at the Skills USA State Competition in Grand Rapids. He placed third in the state in the Diesel Technician competition! We are so proud of you Tony!



Congratulations to these three seniors for being recognized this week by the Tri Valley Conference as our three highest academic achievement awardees for the Class of 2024! Left to right are Amelia Havlik, daughter of Amy Pierce and James Havlik, Samantha Poplawski, daughter of Shannon and Scott Poplawski, and Mason Fleming, son of Amy and Scott Fleming. We are so proud of these seniors for their hard work!


The Freeland Community School District hosted the Saginaw County and Saginaw City K9 officers and their dogs at our school today. They searched lockers, locker rooms, some classrooms and vehicles. We are so grateful to our K9 unit for assisting us as we searched both the middle and high school today.







The SLS group at FHS is hosting a special GLOW dance on Friday, April 19th, from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. This is a special event to focus on Autism Awareness this month. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. We hope you will join us!

FHS would like to thank Mr. Keson for writing a grant so that we could receive over $2000 in safety materials and equipment to be used in our applied tech program. A huge thank you to the Niles Foundation for supporting us with this grant!





Mr. Townsend and Mrs. Neal's Freshmen PE classes were lucky to get to learn line dancing before spring break with Angela Markle from Dance by Angela. She has dance classes every Thursday at the Freeland Sportszone at 7 pm. There is a lesson followed by open dancing until 9:30 pm. This month she will be doing Salsa lessons. If you have any questions contact her at 989-274-4709. Thanks Angela for helping our students get more comfortable with this great lifetime activity!

FHS students in Mrs. Aimar's AP Government class are completing their elections project. Students have been working together in their peer groups to complete a variety of tasks. Today they showcased their research by participating in a Democratic and Republican Candidate primary debate. Great Job AP Government and Politics Students!





Congratulations to FHS junior, Lily Winslow, for receiving recognition from the MSU Alumni Club of Saginaw for her scholarship, leadership and service. Lily has a 4.17 grade point average, has served in numerous leadership roles in Student Council and other clubs like Be The Change, the Green Club or the Literary Art Club, and she has also earned over 400 community service hours since starting high school three years ago. Lily was recognized at a special dinner last night along with other recipients from Saginaw County. We are so proud of you Lily, for the amazing work you are doing in our school and community!

Yesterday, all of our sophomores participated in Mock Interview Day. Thank you to Melissa Gleason and Junior Achievement for helping make this possible by sharing many local business leaders who came to conduct these interviews. This real world learning experience is something that our students benefit from tremendously, and we appreciate your support of our students.






Congratulations to Sophomore Felina Tinacci for writing a poem entitled "White Noise," which has been selected for Appelley Publishing's 2024 Rising Stars Collection. She may also be eligible for prize money, to be determined in April. Congratulations, Felina, on becoming a published writer!


FHS student in Mrs. Aimar's AP Government and Politics have been learning about political participation with an Election Simulation. Friday, they kicked off our simulation with an Exclusive Washington D.C. Meet and Greet the Candidates. Students took on the roles of candidates, party members, interest group members, campaign managers and media. Our candidates kicked off their campaigns with stump speeches and set the stage for upcoming activities. Groups were able to mingle and strategize to address the important issues for our election simulation. Great job AP Government students with your teamwork to make this simulation successful!






Mrs. Klida took her students to the Annual SLS Leadership Conference. Serenity Watts and Lila Stein attended workshops, created an action plan, listened to inspirational speakers and more. It was a great learning experience to be working with other student leaders from around the state!
