Congratuations to Miles Amersey! He competed in the Optimist Oratorical contest Saturday against seniors from four other districts, and Miles won first place! He will now move to the district level competition, where he has a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship.


FHS would like to thank Elijah Folts for his hard work to keep the greenhouse thriving during the pandemic. He has been growing over 100 plants including tomatoes, squash, pumpkin, succulents, and flowers. Recently, he also weeded the outdoor flower beds. Great job Eli!

Attention Seniors and Parents: On Tuesday, May 19, caps and gowns will be distributed between 9 am - 12 pm. Everyone should remain in the vehicle as all items will be delivered to you. Our FHS Family and Consumer Science teacher, Mrs. Keefer, delivered shirts to student porches from her Pre School Years class. Since our students are unable to work with their preschool partners this spring, this was a nice surprise!


Members of our FHS Freshmen Basketball Team decided to do some community service and give back to Freeland by cleaning up trash in their individual neighborhoods. Great work ladies!


Congratulations to our Honors English 9 students who won our Saginaw Optimist Club Oratorical contest this year! The topic was "Just Imagine A World Without Boundaries." Miles Amersey took first place, Ainsley Miller took second place, and Pritesh Ravi took third place. All three won certificates and cash prizes. Both Miles and Ainsley will advance to the area competition, with the chance to go onto the district level and vie for a $2,500 scholarship. Please wish them the best of luck as they prepare for the next level!

Congratulations to senior Katie Lazarz for being selected as a recipient of the 24th Annual MEA Scholarship in the amount of $1,200! Because of her outstanding academic achievement and service, she was selected from over 400 applicants.


Congratulations to seniors Jacquline Willsie and Jack Kukulis for winning the Society of Plastics Engineers essay contest. Jacquline won first place for her essay "Beautiful Plastic The Art of Reuse" and a $500 scholarship. Jack won second place with his essay "How Plastics Will Help Humankind Conquer Space" and a $300 scholarship!




Prior to the shutdown, FHS students in Mrs. Klida's Creative Explorations class created portraits inspired by the work of Brazilian artist Vik Muniz using non-traditional materials. Great work artists!





After sanitizing the mats yesterday, FHS students in Mrs. Keefer’s Essential Health Class welcomed Master Hausbeck from Seung-ni Academy into the classroom. Students learned marital art techniques vital for self-defense. Thank you Master Hausbeck!

Sophomores on Mock Interview Day




FHS would like to thank our business partners from the community who helped us with Mock Interviews today! All sophomores improved their career preparation skills through this experience, and we are grateful for the support of our community and business owners!

FHS students in Mrs. Peters' Chemistry class completed a Mixture Separation Lab today. Through observation, and exploration, they had to identify five different substances, This lab reinforced curiosity, creative thinking, perseverance, critical thinking and adaptability.
