This week, the FHS Student Council volunteered at Toys for Tots, and they kept themselves very busy packing many bags of toys for children in our county. Our students did a great job under their advisor, Mrs. Neal, and our Life Skills teacher, Mrs. Keefer.

FHS would like to give a special thanks to the Frankenmuth Credit Union Foundation for Our Communities. We recently received a $350 donation to allow us to purchase warm hats, gloves, and scarves to help our students who may need winter apparel. This is not the first time that the Frankenmuth Credit Union has supported our school district, and we are so grateful for their generosity.

The Freeland High School SLS club volunteered at the City Rescue Mission in Saginaw last Saturday. Our students were selecting and wrapping gifts for some of the guests. A special thanks goes out to "Dow Gives" for the grant that made this happen, Mrs. Klida for helping to organize the event, and our SLS club for giving their time to help during this busy season.

Freeland High School Government/Economic students competed in the Junior Achievement Titan Competition last week at the Delta College Midland Campus. Wyatt Hendricks, Wyatt Somerlott, and Luke Szczepanik took 2nd place in the competition winning $100 each! All of our students did a fantastic job and had a great time competing.

Mrs. Neal's Physics classes completed the drop portion of their Eggsplosive Safety Project yesterday. This project focuses on using their knowledge of Newton's Laws to attempt to keep their egg passenger safe in a simulated crash. The project combines real world physics with engineering principles like inquiry and design.

Please consider helping our Robotics Team support the Amazing Grace Animal Shelter this holiday season.

Thank you to the Michigan Youth Education Fund , who has awarded us a $750 grant to help pay for our Students Leading Students members to attend the annual SLS Leadership Conference in March 2025.

Mrs. Klida arranged a special trip for her art students and we would like to thank the Midland Center for the Arts and the Alden B Dow Home and Studio for providing our high school students with tour this week!

The FHS Students Leading Students club held their annual Food Drive during the month of November and the FMS Student Council also helped to organize the food drive in the middle school. All donations went to the St. Agnes food pantry to help local families. We appreciate the support from our community to help those in need.

In observance of Thanksgiving, there is no school for students November 27-29.

Last week, our FHS LINKS and their peer friends attended a field trip to Frankenmuth to visit the Xavier DeGroat Autism History Museum along with the Michigan Heroes Museum. Students also had lunch at McDonalds and a quick trip to Bronner's. Special thanks goes to Xavier DeGroat and the Schauman family for supporting this field trip!

FHS students had a great time on their recent field trip to CMU’s Fire Up for English event with Mrs. Krygier and Mrs. Howson. They participated in lessons from college professors on literature, poetry, and creative writing. They learned about the various career opportunities using an English degree, and some shared an original piece in front of the English department. At the end of the day, they enjoyed a special performance by the band Daryl and the Beans. They even ran into an FHS alumni, Matthew Hayes, who is thriving in his CMU experience!

Our FHS LINKS students joined others from Birch Run, Bridgeport, Chesaning, Heritage, and St. Charles to attend the LINKS Leadership Conference promoting acceptance, friendship, and inclusion. We are so grateful to our LINKS students for all of the positive support they provide in our school.

FHs is proud to highlight our Theater teacher, Mrs. Murray this week. Thank you for everything you do for our students!
